Big Fish at Home

Craig Harper 26kg Couta
There is one thing spearfisherman have in common  and that is that we always thing the 'grass is greener on the other side'. We travel the globe looking for big fish, fair enough its just as much about the adventure as the fish. But we have it pretty good right here at home too.

Craig Harper proved this on friday by catching a 26kg Couta off his local reef near Umhloti. He has traveled a bit, but is also one of the first to acknowledge how good things are at home.

So well done Craig on sticking to your guns and eventually getting that 'dream' fish .... getting it at home must make it all that much sweeter :-)

Hardus Bouwer 23.6kg Cuta speared off Umdloti

Hey guys here is that guy who shot that fat bus cuta off Umdloti this weekend while spearfishing. He apparently was using a reel gun!! Check the shot, it must have been exciting.

The river mouth area off Umdloti is renound for spearfishing big cuta.

Spearfishing - Weather update.

Hey guys,

Looking at the forecast the sea looks like it is going to be nice for the next couple of days. May I even go as far as to saw the week end even looks good.

I have had a couple reports of good fish being caught off Umlodti / La Mercy area and some good water out deep. With a bit of luck the small west that is blowing will turn things on.

It is interesting to note that in January 5 Salty Club records were broken last year. And a 4 more in February over the past few years. So we should be into some fish soon!!

See you out there,
